Trailers for UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception

A search for the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands” propels fortune hunter Nathan Drake on a daring trek into the heart of the Arabian Desert, a journey that pits him and his mentor Victor Sullivan against the occult treachery of a shadowy clandestine organization and its ruthless leader. When the terrible secrets of this lost city are unearthed, Drake’s quest descends into a desperate bid for survival that strains the limits of his endurance and forces him to confront his deepest fears.

The big change in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be the environment, which now focuses on heat and sand.  Naughty Dog spent a lot of time learning the physics of sand and notes that they really understand the intricacies of it now.  In fact, the whole team took a trip out to the Imperial Sand Dunes in eastern California to observe and interact with sand such that they could translate its physics over to the game.  Maybe some Uncharted 3 cheats will even have you manipulating the sand.

Elena did not make an appearance in the demo, though we have been assured that she will make an appearance in the game in some form.  However, Sully will be the primary side character alongside Drake this time around, which should make a lot of fans happy as Sully is a very popular character.

Aside from the Arabian environment, the other big addition to Uncharted 3 is the number of enemies that Drake can focus on in melee combat at the same time.  Previously, you were really only able to fight one enemy at a time.  In Uncharted 3 however, Drake will be able to take on multiple enemies at once with multi-person attacks and context sensitive actions.  If one enemy has you grappled, for instance, you have the ability to kick the other enemy so he can’t move in and gang up on you.  The context sensitive actions don’t end there either, as you will be able to use pieces of the environment in these battles as well.

That new environment isn’t just for sure.  Drake and Sully will react to the environment in subtle ways that really bring the game an even better sense of realism.  Little things like Drake bracing himself against a wall as he walks or hopping off a foot that steps on a flame all bring together the realistic flow that the Uncharted games have always done better than any other.  You don’t feel like you’re playing a videogame so much as you are watching an interactive movie.

Uncharted 3′s co-op mode will work similarly to that in Uncharted 2.  The normal campaign will once again be single player only, with an entirely separate campaign/setup for co-op.  Competitive multiplayer details are still slim, though usually multiplayer is the last thing to be detailed so it’s likely that we’ll here more about that as the game nears its release.  It is still unknown whether the Uncharted 3 cheats that drop will be usable in multiplayer as well, or if they’ll be single player only.  Even if they are single player only, it’s likely that they will be usable in co-op and there will still be plenty of Uncharted 3 multiplayer tips and tricks to share, which are extensions of Uncharted 3 cheats.
