February is Oscars month, a time that reminds us all why we love film so much, so to celebrate our most cherished films Hero Complex Gallery is rolling out the red carpet to feature art inspired by some of film history’s most groundbreaking Oscar-winning films. Art will include artist renditions of Casablanca, Chinatown, Aliens, Pulp Fiction, Gladiator, Star Wars, Terminator 2, Raiders of the Lost Ark, An American Werewolf in London, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and many more.
On the opposite side of the gallery will be presented “Weapon of Choice Phase 2!” The Weapon of Choice show in January proved to be such a huge hit that Hero Complex Gallery wanted to exhibit the show to a whole new audience and will be presenting all new art from artists who wanted to take a stab at this sweeping eclectic theme.

Murray, David Welker, Craig Drake, Denis Medri, Godmachine, JP Valderrama, James Rheem Davis, Jesse Philips, Marie Bergeron, New Flesh, Nick Comparone, Nicole Gustafsson, Patrick Awa, Paul Shipper, Stainboy, Stanley Chow and Tim Oliveira, just to name a few.

BLURPPY got a chance to talk to one of the show’s contributing artists, Midnight Marauder and here is what he had to say about his spectacular print for The Deer Hunter. (seen above)
“I am deeply proud to have been asked to Participate in this Amazing show with some truly remarkable artists and designers. and to work on one of my favorite films of all time. The Deer Hunter encapsulates everything that I adore in Cinema. Cimino’s Intimate Epic about Family, Brotherhood and War is the ultimate 70′s film. And I could not see myself picking any other film from the list of Best picture favorites. The Russian Roulette scene is one of the greatest gifts to cinema ever realized.I wanted to give the print a grittiness similar to the original Italian Print that was originally released back in 1978.”
Check out some of the amazing art that will be at the show. If you get to go, please don’t rub it in. I’m bummed I can’t make it.
