Joe Hill’s latest horror-fantasy novel “NOS4A2” is a spectacular piece of story telling that will keep you up into the wee hours of the night with the covers up under your chin and the phone switched off. It’s riveting, well-paced and gives us characters we love and cheer for as well as those we loathe, fear and would NOT want to meet in a dark alley. (Joe has even managed to make Christmas carols the stuff of nightmares!) Match THAT up with art from long time collaborator, artist Gabriel Rodriguez, and you are bound to get something highly desirable as well as collectable. Such is the case with the limited edition release of the book coming from Subterranean Press. Widely considered to be among the finest specialty publishers in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres, Subterranean Press has published Stephen King, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Harlan Ellison, and Peter Straub.
Here is how SP is describing the limited edition. “The Limited edition of NOS4A2 will be oversize, printed on 80# Finch, with an unpublished novella, “Wraith,” that was cut from the original manuscript. It also includes an alternate ending to the novel, as well as illustrations, in both black and white and color, by Hill’s long-term collaborator on the award-winning comic, Locke & Key, Gabriel Rodriguez. The Lettered edition will be one of our more elaborate productions, including a special binding, as well as a custom made autopsy bone mallet, Charlie Manx’s weapon of choice, housed in the tray case.
Limited: 750 signed numbered hardcover copies
Lettered: 26 signed, specially bound copies, housed in a custom tray case
Gabe’s images, seen above, are chilling additions to a book that is redefining the word SPOOKY. Now before you get all excited and race out to purchase this covetable book, I hate to tell you that it is already sold out. I know, I know…I’m bummed too. I found out a day late and a dollar short but I am in the process of selling a kidney so I can hopefully pick up a copy from ebay.
