When the sci-fi series “Fringe” ended, fans were bummed….SERIOUSLY bummed! Well artist Tom Miatke thought he would RIP the bandage off the wound and remind us just how much we missed the show!
Tom has come up with a wonderful trio of prints featuring the 3 main characters. We asked him about his inspiration for this set and here is what he had to say.
The Sci-Fi television show ‘Fringe’ revolves around the idea; ‘Sometimes answers lead to more questions’. Unexplained phenomena, Science and some of the Big Questions of the universe are explored in the show and yet it is grounded with a sense of family and relationship which is why I was drawn to the series in the beginning. As the show progressed and more revelations unfolded the family ties and relationships never suffered and this is what kept me engaged for its entire run of 5 Seasons.
These portraits explore the shows unique themes of Alternate Universes and Consequences, with each portrait showing a glimpse to ‘The Other Side’ and the doppelgänger that represents them, as well as the consequences of tampering with fate.
“Fringe Portraits” by Tom Miatke : 5 colour Screen-Printed portrait set of 3 printed by the excellent folks at The Half and Half. Printed on 100lb Steel Blue Cover Construction paper from French Paper. Each portrait is sized at 10” x 10” (250mm x 250mm). Each set will be Hand Signed and Numbered.

P.S. If you are like me, you are probably wondering why Peter’s slash of color is not see through like the other two. I asked Tom about this and here is how he explained it. If you have seen the show you will notice that Peter is from the Alternate Universe… So these portraits and the strip of color, is like a glimpse to the other side and the doppelgängers that are there… But for Peter there is none because he is from there.
