To put the scale of this work into perspective the dark objects in the upper left hand corner of this photo are trees.  The art is simple and whimsical and while it marks the environment, it does not leave it’s mark on the environment.

Word on the street is that CBS Films plans on going with a younger actor.  (Personally I think Josh Holloway from Lost is an excellent candidate.  If someone from CBS films wants to call me we can talk about it.)

Feeling inspired by Chou’s music, the 26-year-old unconventional painter set out on this artistic journey on Valentine’s Day to reflect the narrative of the singer’s song “Secret/不能说的秘密”. In the song, the first line creates the imagery of lifting a coffee cup off its saucer and continues to tell a story about a girl who travels in time to the future, where she meets and falls in love with Chou. By the end of the song, she has traveled back to her native time and sits sketching a portrait of him. Taking the inspiration of using coffee from the first line, Red has created a remarkably accurate portrait of Chou that even has a dated quality because of its sepia tone.

The incredibly thought out project with precisely saturated rings of coffee to form the singer’s visage took the innovative artist nearly 12 hours to perfect. Since completing the large-scale painting, Red has playfully asked for Chou’s hand in marriage on her Facebook page. How could he not accept?

Raymond Chandler, the great fiction crime novelist, wrote these words in a 1959 essay, “The Simple Art of Murder“. Written to describe the detective in his novels, he set up a sort of code of ethics for this character who he felt must himself be above all of the horrible things he encounters. This description defines Zachary Wohlman, up and coming professional boxer who we photographed in some of the same settings that can be found in Chandler’s books.

Well London-based artist Mark Powell will really tick you off.  He draws incredible portraits on the backs of envelopes using only a ballpoint pen. (These are INFINITELY better than the doodles I do during blurppy staff meetings.)  You can find many more examples of Mark’s original work on Flickr page.

Even though an envelope is an odd choice of canvas I would STILL frame his work for my office….

King said he’d always wondered what happened to The Shining’s haunted, psychic child after he grew up, and that he finally decided to ‘go there’ by writing a sequel. In the yet-unfinished ‘Dr. Sleep,’ Danny is now a 40-year-old man working in a hospice, where he uses his clairvoyant gift to ease dying patients over to the other side. King explained:
