Assassin’s Creed 3: New Mission, New Weapons and Original Art By Alex Ross Are Only A FEW Of The Surprises Ubisoft Has In Store For You

The backdrop is colonial America from 1753 – 1783, during the American Revolution and our new assassin is Connor Ratohnhaké:ton (Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo’).  Connor is of Native American and English heritage and he is the new voice in the ancient war between the Assassins and the Templars.  This is his epic tale.

Players become an Assassin in the war for liberty against ruthless tyranny in the most stylized and fluid combat experiences in the franchise to date. Assassin’s Creed III spans the Revolutionary War, taking gamers from the vibrant, untamed frontier to bustling colonial towns and the intense, chaotic battlefields where George Washington’s Continental Army clashed with the imposing British Army.

Connor has an array of all new weapons to accomplish his goals and each one is used to its fullest.  There are dueling pistols for medium range encounters, a bow and arrow that he uses with lethal, pin-point accuracy for long distance challenges and a hidden knife for those up close and personal encounters as well as a rope dart that he can use to hang people from trees with.  If that isn’t enough for your blood lust then how about a vicious Tomahawk?  Oh yes, we said “TOM- A- HAWK!”

Connor is a frontier predator and this game is all about guerrilla warfare. Strike hard, fast and leave death and destruction in your wake.  Given his Native American upbringing, Connor is a creature of the wilderness, using his Mowhawk Indian stealth amongst the treetops to devastate unwary passing patrols below.

The game will feature historical realities like the battle of Bunker Hill, the fire in New York, Paul Revere, good ole’ George Washington at Valley Forge,  naughty, Ben Franklin, as well as Desmond Miles, the modern-day protagonist of every Assassin’s Creed game to date. (Conner is somehow an ancestor of Desmond but developers are keeping that lil secret on the DL for now.)

The weather and animals of the frontier will play a big part in the game.  Developers have spent an inordinate amount of time making the environment a MAJOR element in the game.  Snow WILL slow you down and animals CAN kill you.  Trees are now the “buildings” and a means for you to get around faster and undetected. (BTW, you can also fight a black bear if you want to get all Geronimo.)

Here is what Senior Vice President of sales and marketing for Ubisoft, Tony Key had to say about the pending release.  “On October 30th players will experience the biggest game launch in Ubisoft’s history with the highly anticipated release of Assassins Creed III. With a development cycle of three years, Assassins Creed III is the true next-generation experience of the Assassins Creed brand. The production value of the game, combined with the biggest marketing commitment we’ve ever made, will make Assassins Creed III the highest-selling Assassin’s Creed game ever. Additionally, the new setting and hero makes this the perfect time to jump into the series for anyone that has not previously played an Assassin’s Creed game.”

The game’s creative director Alex Hutchinson had this to say.  “We have some serious twists. We have a goal with this story of being unpredictable. In other words, in a game where someone says, ‘Go meet Jim’ and Jim is there and says, ‘Hi, I’m Jim,’ it’s tedious. It’s no surprise. There need to be things you’re asked to do that twist and turn and change. And surprise you. And I guarantee you, that that’s the story.”

Assassin’s Creed 3, the fifth installment of the acclaimed series, will be available on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Wii U™ and Windows PC.  To see the various Assassin’s Creed III pre-order offers available at participating U.S. retailers, please visit: (Gamers who pre-order Assassin’s Creed III at GameStop®, or Best Buy® will receive a Limited Edition collectible case featuring artwork created by world renowned, award-winning comic book artist Alex Ross.)
