Title have you a bit confused? Joss is a director right? You know, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and a lil popular movie he just did called ‘The Avengers‘ are part of his portfolio. Well now you can add acting. Joss is the main character in a new video on YouTube called ‘Scary Smash’. Don’t expect any intricate plots or special effects. Scary Smash was written by a 5-year-old and is part of a new Web series called “Written by a Kid” that premiered on the YouTube channel Geek & Sundry last week.
The premise of the show is quite simple: Each week a kid will tell a group of entertainment industry professionals a story, and said professionals will then bring that story to life in a unique and entertaining fashion of their choosing.
Dave Foley of “The Kids in the Hall,” fame joins Whedon as a doomed milkman. Together they act out 5-year-old Brett Baligad’s tale of an ill-fated milkman, a monster, a fun-loving “S.Q.U.A.T.” team leader, his brave squatting troops and an epic battle that lasts for seven days.
Whedon plays the S.Q.U.A.T team leader Gerald. (The part involves a lot of squatting.)
In this video about the casting of the “Scary Smash,” Strange said he was shocked that Whedon agreed to take on the part.
So far “Scary Smash” has been viewed over 213,000 times and BLURPPY thinks that this is just the tip of the iceberg. We can’t WAIT to see the next episode of “Written by a Kid”. It’s called “Goth Boy” and it airs July 25. I suspect some big Robert Smith hair, dark eye makeup with Seth Green playing the lead.
Here it is in all its glory. The very first, and hopefully NOT the last, episode of “Written By A Kid” staring Joss Whedon, Dave Foley and Kate Micucci. We present to you…”Scary Smash”!
