What do 2 of the biggest stars from the 80’s and 90’s do after they pass the age of 65? Well, they go back to what made them famous in the first place, action movies. In case you didn’t know, they are already in a theater near you with The Expendables 2 but both Sly and Arnold have new solo movies on the horizon.
First up, Arnold stars in Korean director Kim Jee-Woon’s hard-hitting US directorial debut, THE LAST STAND. After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction.
But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow. The Last Stand hits theaters on January 18
Next up, Sly Stallone (the older of the two stars) hits theaters on February 1 in an R-rated, non-stop action thriller.
Not to be outdone, Sly brings us ‘Bullet to the Head’. This one is based on a graphic novel, by the same title that tells the story of a New Orleans hitman (Stallone) and a New York City cop who form an alliance to bring down the killers of their respective partners. Why should you see it? 2 words…”AXE BATTLE“.
