Does the name Benedict Cumberbatch ring a bell? Well he is about to be on the tip of every Star Trek fans tongue. J.J. Abrams and Paramount have release the official poster for the upcoming sci-fi, action thriller, “Star Trek Into Darkness.” Cumberbatch, who plays the formidable villain in this one, is front and center amidst wreckage and destruction. (Look closely and you will also notice the Starfleet insignia. Full poster is at the bottom of the article.)
The movie’s synopsis is as follows: When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
I don’t know about you but if J.J. Abrams had said, “The crew of the Starship Enterprise engages in a rigorious game of Jenga. Upon completion they head out to a DQ for Hot Fudge Sundays and carnage ensues when someone cuts in line.” I would STILL be going to this one.
Let us know what you think about the poster and if you are as excited about this new voyage. “Star Trek Into Darkness” hit theaters on May 17, 2013 and I will be in line on opening day. No cuts allowed! If you can’t wait that long to see it, don’t forget to go check out the IMAX presentation of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” on December 14th. They will be previewing the first 9 minutes of the Star Trek movie!
