Gallery1988 (Melrose) is proud to announce their newest exhibition, a collaboration with Hello Giggles, the wildly popular website and entertainment destination for smart, independent and creative females. The exhibition is titled, “Young Adult,” and will feature an all-female artist line-up, with each piece inspired by the teen-focused literature from the 80’s and 90’s.
The Hello Giggles co-creators, producer Sophia Rossi, actress Zoey Deschanel and writer Molly “Molls” McAleer, came up with the show’s theme and helped curate the exhibit. Gallery1988 regulars like Kiersten Essenpreis, Danielle Buerli, Kristin Tercek and Jessica Deahl will participate, alongside familiar names to the Hello Giggles readers, such as Maggie Mull, Kate Micucci and Cuddles & Rage.
Gallery co-owner Jensen Karp says of the partnership with Rossi, Deschanel and McAleer, “We’ve been able to witness the excitement and growth of Hello Giggles since its inception, and the artistic manner in which their writers, illustrators and co-founders go about their business, inspires us as a company. as well We knew if we could take that aesthetic and the nostalgic nature of their site, then create an art show in its honor – it could be a really fun art show. We can’t wait to show off the results.”
The show will feature roughly 60 artists and will open on Feb. 2nd from 7-10 PM, with a public reception. The show will run through February 23.
