Check Out Chip Kidd’s Art For DC’s Deluxe Edition Hardcovers: “Before Watchmen”

Last summer, DC Comics made history with the launch of BEFORE WATCHMEN, a series of inter-connected comic book prequel mini-series that expand on the foundation of the WATCHMEN universe.

-beforewatchmenWhen the books were first announced, DC Entertainment Co-Publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee said, “After 25 years, the Watchmen are classic characters whose time has come for new stories to be told. We sought out the best writers and artists in the industry to build on the complex mythology of the original.”

Now, these highly anticipated stories will be available for the first time in Deluxe Edition hardcovers, ready to stand side-by-side WATCHMEN, the bestselling graphic novel of all time. To make them even more desirable, the covers for all 4 editions feature art by legendary graphic designer, Chip Kidd.  Kidd is well known for having created lasting, memorable art for Michael Chricton’s ‘Jurassic Park and ‘The Lost World’, David Sedaris’ ‘Naked, Frank Miller and Lynn Varley’s ‘Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again, and more.  Here is what Chip had to say about the project: “To design these covers is both a privilege and an honor and a challenge. The Before Watchmen creative team did a truly impressive job, I will try to do justice to them. So to speak.”
