The next installment in the massively successful Hunger Games franchise, “Catching Fire” opens later this year on November 22 but we got a look at the first trailer during last evenings MTV Movie Awards. Directed by Francis Lawrence (Water For Elephants, I Am Legend) “Catching Fire,” is the second installment in a planned series of four films based on the bestselling young adult book trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a ‘Victor’s Tour’ of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the upcoming 75th Annual Hunger Games known as The Quarter Quell – a special Hunger Games where past winners will be forced to fight to the death and a competition that could change Panem forever.
The movie has an outstanding cast and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Lynn Cohen, Patrick St. Esprit, Meta Golding, Bruno Gunn, Alan Ritchson, E. Roger Mitchell, Maria Howell, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, Sam Claflin and Jeffrey Wright.
Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think. F.Y.I. the final book and next movie in the series, “Mockingjay”, is scheduled to be filmed as a two-parter similar to how Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Twilight’s Breaking Dawn were filmed. Every last penny, they have to bleed every last freaking penny outta us don’t they… Not that it matters, as the two previously movies showed us, the theaters will be packed with rabid fans.
