UK artist and Poster Posse member Sharm Murugiah is a busy lad as of late. He has been turning out piece after piece after piece in such a rapid fire way that it has been tough to keep up. Given his blistering pace I have gathered the last few things he has done and compiled them into a mini “Sharm Highlight Reel” showcasing his latest and greatest.
First up is some work he did for the film, The Double by British director Richard Ayoade. It’s a dark comedy that tells the story of a man who is driven insane by the appearance of his doppleganger. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska and the print comes in two beautiful versions.
With the announcement of Zach Snyder’s upcoming “Superman VS Batman” Sharm was inspired to come up with a couple of prints featuring both of DC’s best while cleverly including the other hero in each print.
Finally Sharm did a piece for the incredible magazine Little White Lies that features an illustration of South Korean film director Hong Sang Soo in a brief that “required a more floral decorative style.”
After the testosterone trifecta of Elysium, Man Of Steel and Trance, we’ve opted for a touch of sophistication for our September/October issue. LWLies 49 takes its thematic cue from Woody Allen’s exquisite Streetcar Named Desire-tinged tragi-comedy, Blue Jasmine, starring a career-best Cate Blanchett as a New York socialite who moves to San Francisco to reacquaint with her working-class sister (Sally Hawkins) after being disgraced by her shyster hubbie (Alec Baldwin).
Speaking of Elysium….Sharm has also done a print for THAT as well!
