Fox TV Gets Into The DC Universe With An All-New Series About The Origin Of Commissioner Gordon Called “Gotham”

Marvel has just launched their new TV series called “Agents Of Shield” and now DC is ramping up to launch THEIR own TV series over on Fox called “Gotham.”  Gotham will tell the origin story of James Gordon who eventually becomes Commissioner Gordan and one of Batman’s greatest allies.

(Commissioner Gordon played by Gary Oldman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy)

The series will focus on a young Detective James Gordon and “the villains that made Gotham famous.” Bruno Heller (Rome, The Mentalist) is writing the Commissioner Gordon origin which will presumably launch during the 2014-2015 TV season. Gotham will take place before Gordon meets Batman, who will not be a part of the series. (Calm down everyone, don’t get your panties in a bunch because your favorite detective won’t be on the show.  Think about it…do you really want to see The Dark Knight walking up the side of a building ala Adam West style?… We didn’t think so.)

-batman-commissioner-gordonDC is currently in the TV biz with their hit series Arrow over on the CW and they COULD launch another series once The Flash is introduced in season two of Arrow.  The Fox network is so eager to launch this project that they are skipping the pilot phase and going straight to series.  No casting information has been given as well as not initial air date. Stay tuned for more on this as it becomes available.
