This Friday, October 18th, 2013, Gauntlet Gallery in San Francisco is getting ready to rock out with their next exhibit: “Music Sounds Better With You.” Music Icons will be given center stage as artists pay homage to their favs. Here is the official hype for the show:
During the mid-20th century, the world witnessed a cultural explosion surrounding music and art. Since then, the two have developed simultaneously allowing musicians and artists to grow, challenge, and thrive off of one another. From Andy Warhol’s Eight Elvises of 1963 to Jeff Koons’ Michael Jackson and Bubbles of 1988, we have seen the worlds of audio and visual collide and feed off of each other. This connection has provided each generation with the unique experience of emotion evoking exchanges between art and music. Please join us as more than twenty artists celebrate and pay homage to the musicians who have inspired them along the way.
As referenced, this is a group show with some great artists along with Poster Posse members, Samuel Ho and Marie Bergeron proudly representing Canada and contributing some fantastic art. Each piece takes us back down music’s memory lane with thoughts of mixed tapes and rummaging through the bins at the local record store.
The exhibit is free, open to the public and will be showing through November 12th, 2013. You can RSVP here for what is sure to be a night where EVERYONE puts their Bic lighters in the air !
So “take me down to the Paradise City” and “give me somebody to love.” Gauntlet Gallery says “lets get it on” and celebrate some of music’s icons and “dance the night away.” (There, was that enough music references for you because I could do THIS all day?)
