Artist Kris Kuksi Delivers A Breathtaking IMAX Poster For “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”

Fans may be ravenous for the next installment of The Hunger Games to hit theaters on November 22nd but artist Kris Kuksi gives them something pretty amazing to tie them over in the meantime.  Kris has just released an insanely detailed and original IMAX poster for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and it’s quite literally unlike anything I have ever seen.

When BADASS DIGEST previewed this poster here is what Guillermo del Toro had to say about Kris’s work: Kris Kuksi obsessively arranges characters and architecture in asymmetric compositions with an exquisite sense of drama. Instead of stones and shells he uses screaming plastic soldiers, miniature engine blocks, towering spires and assorted debris to form his landscapes. The political, spiritual and material conflict within these shrines is enacted under the calm gaze of remote deities and august statuary. Kuksi manages to evoke, at once, a sanctum and a mausoleum for our suffocated spirit.

Pretty heavy words for a mesmerizing piece.  Take a look at what we are talking about and let us know what you think down in the comments section below.

You can follow Kris on FACEBOOK or TWITTER.  You REALLY should check out his WEBSITE as well because he is truly a gifted artist and his work screams to be seen.  Whether it’s his paintings, sculptures or drawings, there is a unique intricate detail to everything he does that is completely captivating.

Now here is a little info about the movie that the poster is representing. Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is the highly-anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games and stars Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), Josh Hutcherson (Peeta), Liam Hemsworth (Gale), Sam Claflin (Finnick), and Jena Malone (Johanna).

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
