Twentieth Century Fox is looking to reignite the box office with a follow up to their 2011 hit, “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes”, with their next installment, “Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.” The first film made an impressive $482 million dollars at the box office and the studio is ready for round two in their simian dominates mankind franchise reboot.
Andy Serkis returns as ‘Caesar’, the ape with an attitude and leader of his fellow simians. The movie is being directed by Matt Reeves, most notably know for “Cloverfield” and “Let Me In.” Reeves has gone on record saying “the film is more character-oriented and psychological than plot-driven” so it looks like we will get inside Caesar’s head with this one. The movie touts an impressive cast including: Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer.
The official synopsis from Fox goes as such: A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
The trailer is dark and just looking into Caesar’s eyes is creepy as….well… you know. I don’t hold out much hope for the human race after seeing this trailer. Give it a watch and let us know what you think down in the comments section below. “Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes” swings into theaters, July 2014.
