Odd City Entertainment Partners With Matt Ryan Tobin For A “True Romance”

true-romance-posterAustin based Odd City Entertainment has give us outstanding prints by GabzFargo and Pacific Rim, Erica WilliamsThe Secret of Nimh, Matt FergusonThe Usual Suspects and many more.  Well once you look at their next offering, you’ll be hypnotized and find it hard to turn away.

Screen Shot 2014-02-06 at 11.06.47 AMThe print in question is for the 1993 Tony Scott classic, “True Romance.”  This time out Canadian artist Matt Ryan Tobin turns in a set of prints that, for me, is reminiscent of the Beatles.  When you listen to the Beatles it’s incredible to think that it is a four-man band.  The sound is overwhelming and totally envelopes you.  Such is the case with Matt’s prints.  They are only 6 and 7 colors but there seems to be WAY more going on.

Here is what Matt  had to say about this project with Odd City and Morgan Creek.

“When Odd City approached me to create a poster for ‘True Romance,’ my jaw hit the floor. To say I was flattered is an understatement. I fell in love with this film from the first time I viewed it on VHS…. A rental copy, no less.

It’s a film that has always stuck with me – so much so that, at one point, I was seconds away from a past girlfriend and I getting matching “Clarence” and “Alabama” cupid tattoos to commemorate the film. This movie is so vivid and colourful in its writing, characters and film style. I really wanted to give my all in complimenting the film, by approaching the artwork in the same way.” – Matt Ryan Tobin

The movie featured an incredibly diverse cast of superstars including: Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Denis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Christopher Walken, Samuel Jackson, and James Gandolfini.  It was gritty, raw and some of the best work ever put up on the silver screen by Tony Scott and Quentin Tarantino.

These two outstanding editions will go on sale at a random time on Friday, February 7th, 2014 over at the Odd City Store.
