Watch The Intense, Creepy Trailer For The Sci-Fi Suspense Thriller, “The Signal” From Focus Features

This one played at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and has been receiving quite a bit of hype since then. Now we get our first look at a new poster and trailer for “The Signal.”  The film’s synopsis goes like this:

_the-signal-poster-r-u-agitatedNick and Jonah are MIT freshmen with a passion for hacking. While driving cross-country through Nevada with Nick’s girlfriend, Hailey, they follow rival hacker Nomad’s clues to a location 180 miles away. After a terrifying confrontation with Nomad in the middle of the desert, the trio regain consciousness in captivity. Struggling to comprehend the true nature of their confinement, they discover they are part of a plot much larger than themselves.

_the-signal-1_the-signal2The trailer has an incredibly eerie tone to it as Laurence Fishburne delivers his lines in a very monotone “Morpheus-esque” type of way.  The trailer has Fishburne asking a dazed and roughed up Thwaites, some rather odd questions like, “Are you from earth?” and “Can you recall for me the first time you encountered …the signal?”  The trailer then goes on to state….”This is the signal….if you hear it….you have been chosen” and then shows a person being ripped into the sky by unknown forces.

_the-signal-5Chosen for what?  By who?  Damn it I want answers!  The movie also stars Australian actor Brenton Thwaites who also appears in Maleficent and The Giver as well as Olivia Cooke, Beau Knapp, Lin Shaye, Robert Longstreet and Jeffrey Grover.

_the-signal-3There is also a viral campaign going on that leads you to a website, which features a screen that resembles an old computer terminal asking for a “USER”.  Once you type something in it simply states, error “blank” is an unknown command…R U agitated and then there is a Y/N option.
