HBO’s “Game of Thrones” is an absolute BEHEMOTH in regards to fan frenzy and artist appreciation. EVERYONE wants to watch it and EVERY artist has their own take on the show. Last week we gave you quite a few “takes” on the show from Poster Posse members and fans absolutely LOVED the art. (Click HERE and use the links within the article to see all their amazing Game of Thrones art.)
Today we are giving you two fresh new takes that relate back to season 3 of the series. Another Poster Posse artist, Juan Hugo Martinez, is bringing these 2 prints to life and they are both pretty spectacular. First up….“Kissed By Fire.”
For this piece Juan had this to say, “In the Kissed by Fire piece I went with The Hound. I wanted to show the Hound facing his fear of fire.” The gaze portrayed in his face gives us a fleeting glimpse past the hard, cold, violent exterior and reminds us that you should never judge a book by its cover.
Juan’s second piece gives me the chills every time I look at it. Called “Second Sons,” this is what Juan had to say about it. “Second Sons was such a great turning point for Sam Tarly, his true courage comes out when he fends off The White Walker . I wanted to work with the theme overcoming a fear and destroying it.”
Much like the Nazgûl / Ringwraiths in “Lord of the Rings”, I REALLY dig the White Walkers. “In that darkness the White Walkers came for the first time. They swept through cities and kingdoms, riding their dead horses, hunting with their packs of pale spiders big as hounds.” They are simply bad ass and NO ONE wants to mess with them and the quotes about them evoke a feeling of ancient evil, and of course, that is pretty damn cool as well.
