When something works, you stay with it and DC loooooves Zach Snyder. They must, because they have just given him a MASSIVE nod of approval with their latest announcement that puts Snyder back in the Director’s chair for one of their biggest movies ever. The movie that DC fans have been waiting for, “JUSTICE LEAGUE” has been announced and the studio is putting Zach Snyder at the helm.
Snyder’s work with Henry Cavill on “Man of Steel” showed everyone that he gets the DC Universe but also has the guts to make it his own. I loved what he did with Krypton’s favorite son and like many of you, I’m REALLY looking forward to seeing what he does with the upcoming “Batman vs Superman”….or whatever they are going to call it. (I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that Afleck delivers a gritty Bruce Wayne/ Dark Knight minus the weird gravely voice from Christian Bale in the Nolan films.)
Greg Silverman, President of worldwide production over at Warner Bros., stated this about the new film – “It will be a further expansion of this universe and ’Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.’” At this time there is no script and there is no release date but given the fact that DC is releasing 3 high profile super hero movies with this rather ambitious time table shows that they have absolutely taken notice of Marvel’s success and have decided to jump in the ring with gloves raised.
So for those of you keeping score you have Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Afleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and the newly announced Ray Fisher as Cyborg. That leaves potential casting for Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Flash, Green Arrow and Aquaman. At this point we still need to wait to hear who the remaining members will be but I am sure that young actors everywhere are beefing up at the gym, hitting their local comic book stores and catching up on their Justice League mythology.
When asked about a spinoff/ stand alone film for everyone’s favorite Amazon, Wonder Woman, President of worldwide marketing, Sue Kroll simply said, “That is our hope. With the right script, that could be viable. The world is ready for her.”
