Yep, you heard me correctly. All you fanboys who have DREAMED about being part of the Star Wars Universe, well now is your time….or at least you have a shot. JJ Abrams just announced a partnership with UNICEF and OMAZE called “Star Wars: Force For Change”. “It’s a brand new initiative that is dedicated to finding creative solutions for some of the world’s biggest problems.”

Here is the LINK to the site that talks all about what you’ll do and who you’ll help in the process and BOTH are pretty incredible. Here is the official statement for the “What You’ll Do” portion: Star Wars fans, movie lovers, and dreamers, this is it. The return of the most beloved franchise of all time, and we’re excited to share it with you in the biggest way possible: by giving you the chance to be immortalized as a member of the Star Wars universe. You and one lucky friend will be flown out to London, where you’ll go behind-the-scenes on the closed set of Star Wars: Episode VII as our VIP guests. You’ll watch the filming and meet the newest members of the cast, but that’s not all. You’ll also be in the movie! You will be transformed by our makeup and costume teams into a Star Wars character to be filmed for an actual scene in Episode VII. (FYI, if I DON’T win I will gladly volunteer my services as the “one lucky friend” to whomever DOES win.)
On the flip-side, here is the official statement for the “Who you’ll help” part: “‘Star Wars: Force for Change’ wants to create a brighter tomorrow for thousands of kids and families around the world. With your help and creativity we can develop innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges. By acting as a Force for Change, your donation to support UNICEF’s Innovation Labs and other innovative work for children will fund dozens of life-changing projects like these in communities across the globe: • Portable, solar-powered learning kits being built in China, Uganda, and Burundi to ensure every child in the world has access to relevant, quality learning. • Mobile phone application developed in South Sudan and Uganda, and used in the Philippines, that helps reunite children with their families after an emergency. • A text messaging solution in Zambia that helps families receive infant medical test results from clinics, in half the time, through mobile phones. Join us! Help create a brighter tomorrow for thousands of kids and families. Be a force for change.”
By now I’m sure you are saying, “JUST TELL ME WHAT I HAVE TO DO!” Entering is easy. They have set up various “reward levels” for those that help. Each level will give you “entries” into the contest and each reward level gives you something pretty darn cool at the same time.
I’m seriously thinking that BLURPPY.COM needs to pool some funds together and do all of the upper tier reward levels. Think of all the kids we could help AND look at all the great things we can get. On top of all THAT, we would also have 5,400 entries and MAYBE get to be a Bounty Hunter or a Sith or a Tusken Raider or someone REALLY cool in the movie.
So to summarize The Star Wars: Force for Change Grand Prize includes:
- Airfare and hotel to London for one winner and a guest.
- Behind-the-scenes access on the closed set of “Star Wars: Episode VII” as VIP guests of Abrams.
- Meeting members of the cast.
- The winner and guest will play “Star Wars” characters and be filmed for a scene in “Star Wars: Episode VII.”
The contest is great but the cause is amazing so do what you can and remember my offering if you win. The campaign runs from 12:01am PST on May 21stth until 11:59pm PST July 18th.
