Come Check Out “Storytime,” Joey Spiotto’s First Ever Solo Show At Gallery 1988

On August 8, 2014 Gallery 1988 opens it’s doors to Joey Spiotto’s very first solo show.  Titled “Storytime” it compiles 50 new works by Joey that are influenced by all the things we love, movies, music, television and video games.

Joey has taken his favorite movies, music, television and video game properties and turned them into lovable, clever, children’s book covers.  We absolutely LOVE these so we asked Joey a few questions about the project.

How long have you been working on these 50 pieces?
JOEY: I came up with the list late last year when I was first asked about doing a show. I think my list was about 75, over the next few months, I whittled it down to 50. I had started laying them out earlier in the year, and then got busy with other stuff, but I spent a majority of May and June working on everything.

Do you have a favorite print out of the bunch?
JOEY: A favorite… hmmm, that one’s tough. Maybe I’ll pick a favorite from each of my categories. From Movies: Earth’s Mightiest Little Heroes. Music: My Weird Little Pal Al. TV Shows: I Want To Believe. Video Games: The Little Cogs of War

Will you be in attendance?
JOEY: YES! I will be there at the show opening Friday, August 1st from 7-10pm, please stop by and say hi!

If fans were going to bring you a treat, what is your favorite candy?
JOEY: Reese’s Pieces… E.T. knew what was up.

You heard the man, bring forth the Reese’s Pieces!  (Personally, I’m strictly a Junior Mints kind of guy but to each his own….I don’t judge.)

Head over to Gallery 1988 EAST 8/1/14 for the opening of this fantastic show.  Doors open at 7pm, Joey will be there and I hope you ALL bring him some candy!  Keep up with EVERYTHING this talented artist has going on by checking out his OFFICIAL WEBSITE, and following him on TWITTER, and FACEBOOK.
