Odd City Entertainment Announces: “The Godfather Part 1” By Laurent Durieux

In 1972, Francis Ford Coppola began a tale delving into the lives of the Corleone, Sicilian crime family, “The Godfather: Part 1.”  It was based off Mario Puzo’s book of the same name and won 3 Oscars.  The film stars Marlon Brando and Al Pacino in what many consider, “the defining roles of their lives.”

Odd City Entertainment is partnering with Brussels illustrator and graphic artist Laurent Durieux on an outstanding print for the film that remains the highest grossing film of 1972 and is still beloved by fans around the globe.

Regular Edition: 325 prints, $65

Here is what Laurent had to say about the collaboration with Odd City Entertainment. When I was contacted by Odd City to see if I was interested in working on The Godfather Trilogy, I didn’t think twice about it. The Godfather films are amongst my favourite movies of all time, period. I grew up with these movies. So many movies are referring to the GF nowadays, and fantastic TV shows like The Sopranos (which I love) hint constantly to the masterpieces from Francis Ford Coppola.

The Godfather inhabits us all. It’s part of our general culture. It should be taught at school! It is such a milestone in cinema history too! It’s really impossible to say anything negative about The Godfather. It doesn’t’ get any better than this! As for the original poster, I must admit I have always been sort of disappointed with it, but I can’t exactly pinpoint why. Probably it doesn’t convey the richness of the movie, the vibe and the overall atmosphere. What about the logo of The Godfather, created by the fantastic and underrated painter and graphic designer S. Neil Fujita? I’m such a huge fan of his that there was no way I wasn’t going to use his logo for my version of the poster. Such an iconic image! I am truly honoured to give my interpretation of this masterpiece and I hope I will do it justice. Leave the gun, take the canollis… – Laurent
