Daniel Danger has been part of the Mondo camp for years and as a tribute to the team that has helped put pop culture prints front and center of the mainstream, he has created a poster. It’s not just ANY poster though, this one features the Mondo team in a rather fitting comic book scenario.
Daniel has taken the highly popular Uncanny X-Men #141 from the early 80’s and inserted a ton of Mondo folks and references. He even gives a nod to a bunch of the artists that have consistently worked with Mondo over the years.
24″ x36″ 7 or 8 color screenprint.
casual timed edition through the weekend.
ONE PER PERSON / HOUSEHOLD.
preorder will ship late feb/early march.
Here is what Daniel had to say about it over on his site:
So here’s my dumb joke print I did for Mondo and their fans. It’s a knock on the iconic cover of Uncanny X-Men #141 from the early 80’s. In a dystopian future, the Sentinels control the united states, and have hunted mutants or placed them in camps or straight murdered them. Kitty Pryde’s mind is sent back in time to her younger self and she attempts to stop this horrible future from happening. Lets assume internet messageboards are Sentinels, and uh, Rob is Wolverine. Mitch is DEF Kitty Pryde. Draw your own parallel past this point. This is absolutely an idea I had at 4am in the morning if that wasn’t painfully obvious, and enjoyed a few days of working wildly outside of my style.
It should be noted that Danger has inserted himself into the poster in the same spot that WOLVERINE held in the original cover. Given how amazing his work is and that it is ALWAYS sold out it would only seem fitting that his spot had a SOLD OUT banner over it too. (But then again, it wouldn’t ring true to the original cover.) We love the other gems in here as well like the Ebay reference and the “Attention: adding item…” notice that we all dread when trying to purchase prints. (Approved by the authority of MONDO is pretty cool too.)
