LEGO’s Next Marvel Masterpiece, The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier Set, is Highly Desirable

One of our favorite movies in the past few years has to be Marvel’s The Avengers.  And one of the all-time coolest modes of transport has just gotten the LEGO treatment and it’s damn awesome.  The Wall Street Journal gave fans an exclusive look at one of LEGO’s offerings at next month’s New York Toy Fair.

Coming in just under 3000 pieces, the 2,996 piece S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier just went to the top of our “must-get” LEGO list.  (FYI, that list just keeps growing and growing and growing!)  It will hit stores in March and cost $349.99, (£270, AU$450.)  Before you gasp at the price, did we mention that it has 2.996 pieces?  Well then, it also comes with some other goodies.

Many, many moons ago, I built plastic models, including cars, planes and snips. Back then then the larger scale models cost what my father made in a week. As a teenager in 1960, I earned $1,000 all summer caddying at $4/bag for 18 holes 5hrs. of work!
