With a brand new Star Wars movie coming out later this year, merchandise and hype is at an all-time high. The Japanese video game company, Square Enix, is poised to capitalize on this wave of popularity with some new additions to their “Variant Playart” series. They have just revealed 3 iconic villains from the Star Wars Universe and our heads are spinning.
We shall preface this reveal with the obvious fact that we absolutely LOVE all three of these and we are almost positive that 99.9% of you will feel the same way. (For those .1% purists out there, ‘don’t hate, APPRECIATE!)
First up, Darth Vader, the dark Lord of the Sith. This updated version, like the other two we are about to show you, gives the character an aggressive and even MORE foreboding look that the original, and that’s saying a lot. We especially love the blurred lightsaber accessory!
The second figure we will show you is our favorite, intergalactic bounty hunter, Boba Fett. This Fett looks like he will shoot first and ask questions later and if you die in the process…..so be it. As with the other two figures, there is an immense amount of detail that makes this figure and series a welcome addition to any Star Wars collectors collection.
Last, but certainly not least, is the updated Stormtrooper. Like Boba Fett, the dingy battle worn/ distressed armor helps make this one seems like he has been to Hell and back.
Darth Vader will be released in May of this year with Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper following in July. They all measure 26cm tall ( 1o.24 inches) and each figure will sell for $108. They each come with 14 points of articulation as well as multiple accessories.
You can visit the Play Arts Kai website and they will have more info about these figures soon.
