Tom Whalen Slips Back Into The Twilight Zone With 2 Fantastic New Prints For Dark Hall Mansion

Dark Hall Mansion’s officially licensed, 10-print, Twilight Zone project with Tom Whalen has been utterly fantastic and today they have announced not one, but two new prints in the series.  This time out Tom is embracing two of the shows most beloved episodes, “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” and “Time Enough At Last.”

TwilightZone“Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” first hit TV on October 11, 1963 and was directed by Richard Donner, based off a short story by Richard Matheson.  This episode features none other than William Shatner as a terrified passenger on a flight during a violent storm.  Looking out the window during the storm he sees….well you know what he saw.  As you can see, Tom has given this project a rather cool travel poster approach.

“Portrait of a frightened man: Mr. Robert Wilson, thirty-seven, husband, father, and salesman on sick leave. Mr. Wilson has just been discharged from a sanitarium where he spent the last six months recovering from a nervous breakdown, the onset of which took place on an evening not dissimilar to this one, on an airliner very much like the one in which Mr. Wilson is about to be flown home – the difference being that, on that evening half a year ago, Mr. Wilson’s flight was terminated by the onslaught of his mental breakdown. Tonight, he’s traveling all the way to his appointed destination, which, contrary to Mr. Wilson’s plan, happens to be in the darkest corner of the Twilight Zone.” – Rod Serling

Tom’s next piece pays homage to one of my all-time favorite Twilight Zone episodes, “Time Enough At Last.”  This one first aired on television on November 20th, 1959.  In this episode, Burgess Meredith brilliantly plays the character of Henry Bemis. Who thinks he has found peace in a post apocalyptic world when…..well you know what happened.

“Witness Mr. Henry Bemis, a charter member in the fraternity of dreamers. A bookish little man whose passion is the printed page, but who is conspired against by a bank president and a wife and a world full of tongue-cluckers and the unrelenting hands of a clock. But in just a moment, Mr. Bemis will enter a world without bank presidents or wives or clocks or anything else. He’ll have a world all to himself…without anyone.” – Rod Serling
