“What will you do when they catch you?”
“What will you do if they break you?”
“If you continue to fight…what will YOU become?”
Today we got our first official teaser for the next installment in the Star Wars mythology, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” All I can say is that I am SO glad that Walt Disney Pictures acquired Lucasfilm because this thing looks fantastic.
Disney has already told us all that there will be Star Wars films lined up from last year in to infinity and like many of you, I am all in. I think the fact that ANYONE is doubting the success of this new film just because it is a spinoff is ludicrous. Two words people…”Star” and “Wars.” Fans can’t get enough and after seeing this little sneak peak, the official countdown has begun.
“Rogue One” takes place before the events depicted in the original Star Wars film released in 1977. If you read the crawl at the beginning of that first film it goes like this:
“It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, The Deathstar, and armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.” This film tells the story of those rebel spies and their sacrifices in getting the plans to the Deathstar.
Take a look and let us know what YOU think.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will not have any Jedi in it and will unleash a bevy of new characters into the Star Wars mythos. Will fans still flock to the theaters to see it….our guess is ABSOLUTELY.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is directed by Gareth Edwards with a score by Alexandre Desplat and stars: Felicity Jones as the lead character, Jyn Erso, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Diego Luna.
Here are some facts and rumors about “Rogue One” from IMDB.
- It’s rumored that bounty hunter Cad Bane, made famous from the Clone Wars television series, will make his feature film debut.
- It is rumored that Peter Cushing would reprise his role as Grand Moff Tarkin from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977), even though Cushing died in 1994. He would be resurrected via CGI and archive footage from his films.
- This will mark the first time in which John Williams will not compose a live-action theatrical Star Wars film.
- The character name Jyn Erso is thought to be a reference to Jan Ors, a character in the video game Star Wars: Dark Forces (1995). In the first mission of the game, Ors and Kyle Katarn recover the plans to the Death Star.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” blasts its way into theaters on December 16th, 2016, we’ll see you there!
