Grunge Supergroup “Temple Of The Dog” Rises From The Ashes & Hits The Road

Folks who grew up in the 90’s are well versed in grunge rock and bands like Nirvana, Mother Love Bone, Meat Puppets, Mudhoney and others are most likely still part of of your favorite “playlist” only rather than having their music on a cassette, you have it loaded on your cell phone.

Now, 26 years after they formed, one of the best grunge bands is getting back together and hitting the road for what will most likely be five glorious shows.  “Temple Of The Dog” was a supergroup in the grunge arena as it was comprised of members of two of the biggest grunge acts of the time, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.

For fans of the group this is a HUGE announcement as the band never officially toured. Lead singer, Chris Cornell said in an official press release: “We wanted to do the one thing we never got to do… play shows and see what it feels like to be the band that we walked away from 25 years ago.

Here are the dates that will absolutely sell out:

November 4 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania @ Tower Theater
November 7 — New York, New York @ Madison Square Garden
November 11 — San Francisco, California @ Bill Graham Civic Center
November 14 — Los Angeles, California @ The Forum
November 20 — Seattle, Washington @ Paramount Theater

As an added bonus, to commemorate the upcoming 25th anniversary of their album release, they will be reissuing a new version with demos and outtakes in various formats which can be preordered here.

  1. Major Domo says:

Actually, Temple of the Dog were formed to honour the memory of Andrew Wood, the MotherLoveBone singer who died. Pearl Jam released their first album the following year, and weren’t a supergroup – yet. And can you not use the word ‘grunge’ again….? Thanks!
