Kevin Tiernan Pays Tribute To The Incredible Jack Kirby

Jacob Kurtzberg, or as you most likely know him, Jack Kirby, is a legend in the comic book universe.  His contributions to the comic book industry helped lay the groundwork for everyone who came after him.

In the 40’s he worked for National Comics Publications (which later became DC Comics) and in fin-fang-foom-strange-tales-89the 50’s he worked for Atlas Comics (which eventually became Marvel Comics.) Kirby was the responsible for creating or helping bring many characters to life including: Captain America, Darkseid, Doctor Doom, Enchantress, The Fantastic Four, Nick Fury, Galactus, The X-Men, Groot, Hulk, The Inhumans, Iron Man, Magneto, The Silver Surfer, Thor, and Fin Fang Foom.  (Nope, we’ve never heard of Fin Fang Foom either but we had to include him because of his awesome name.)

As a tribute to Kirby and some of the characters that he helped “birth,” Connecticut artist, Kevin Tiernan has come up with several prints paying homage to a few of his favorites.  Sadly, there is no Fin Fang Foom but we will keep our fingers crossed that Kevin is not done with this series yet. (Given the vast amount of characters Kirby worked on our helped create, this project could keep Kevin busy for many… many… many months.)

To see more of Kevin’s fantastic portfolio, go check out his BEHANCE page, follow him on TWITTER and go take a look at his OFFICIAL WEBSITE.  Be sure to leave him a message on any of those and tell him to do a FIN FANG FOOM!
